Teacher-Training Intensive

The KYM Institute of Yoga Studies conducts a two year part-time postgraduate diploma in Yoga.(This programme is right now open only to Indian students). The syllabus for this teacher-training program includes

 
  • Fundamentals of Indian Culture and Tradition

  • Yoga Sutra – Samadhi Padah

  • Principles and practice of asana

  • Fundamentals of human physiology and anatomy as applied to yoga

  • Yoga Sutra – Sadhana Padah

  • Principles and practice of asana (Basic mechanics and planning a course)

  • Elements of Ayurveda

  • Classical Yoga Texts

  • Principles and practice of pranayama

  • Psychology, an eastern and western orientation

  • Yoga Rahasya of Nathamuni

  • Bio-mechanical principles of asana and its applications

This postgraduate diploma also includes a six-month internship at the KYM premises under the guidance of a senior teacher. Participants who posses a graduate degree in any subject, within the age group of 20 to 50 are eligible for this course. Participants are awarded a postgraduate diploma certificate upon successful completion of the course and inducted as teachers at KYM.

Till date, eight batches of students have taken this two-year teacher training intensive with the number of people who have qualified totaling seventy-two. However study at KYM does not end with the completion of this diploma. Teachers are required to observe the classes of senior faculty and also attend advanced lessons taken by senior faculty to continue their education in yoga.
