We are happy to announce that KYM has now acquired the property from which it has been functioning since 1987. We had acquired a piece of land several kilometers away from our present location with the intention of constructing a new healing center there. Following a decision taken by the trustees of KYM after considering a number of factors, that piece of land has been sold. The sales proceeds have been used to buy the land on which KYM presently stands. Registration formalities have just been completed and we will shortly commence the construction of the new building on the same premises. In the interim while the new building is under construction, KYM will function from temporary rented premises in the same vicinity. As you may be aware, constructing a state-of-the-art center for healing requires a lot of funding. While KYM has acquired the property, we still need to raise funds to help us complete construction of the new building at the earliest. We seek your continued support in helping us build a new healing center. Your generous contributions are most welcome.
The Need
Now, as KYM faces new challenges in terms of increasing number of students and lack of space to accommodate them, we have to seriously consider moving to a larger place we can truly call 'home'. The projected cost for the construction of the new building is estimated at around US$ 750,000. KYM being a non-profit public charitable trust, does not possess a corpus that will fund this construction. Unless supported by well-wishers like you, these dreams will merely remain part of KYM wish list, rather than becoming a reality. This is where we seek the support of large-hearted well-wishers and friends of KYM who have been such pillars of support throughout our journey. A simple commitment of resources within your capacity will go a long way in supporting and sustaining KYM's activities, enabling us to serve you better. Any donation that you make will be accepted graciously.
The Challenges we face
Shortage of Space With over two hundred consultations and eight hundred classes a month, space is becoming a serious constraint. Increased Waiting Time The space constraint has a spill-over effect as we are unable to give as many classes as there are students each day.
Rejecting the hungry In the face of increased requests for participation in KYM's international programs, many students have to be either waitlisted or rejected for want of space.
Challenges for research With every square meter making a big difference, we are unable to allocate space to accommodate a research laboratory and the equipment required to conduct certain tests. This poses a problem when we attempt to envisage research backed models for evaluation and therapy.
Archival necessity The increasing need to maintain and preserve our archives, has created further demand for specially constructed space that will resist variations in weather and temperature.
Dependence on external agencies Functioning from rented premises lacks the long-term security that having our own space would provide. Also, we are forced to depend on various external agencies, to host our international programs.
Forced to say "No" to Children Our children's classes are overflowing, thanks to our limited space and hence we are unable to accommodate them. It also goes against our principle to reject many projects that involve underprivileged children or those with special needs.
These are also reasons why we need a larger home - a place where we can welcome them with warmth and love. As KYM grows in the scope of its activities, this has only underlined the need for a space of our own from where we can function in keeping with our objectives of spreading the teachings of T Krishnamarcharya and lending the world a healing hand.
