The Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, since its inception in 1976, has acquired a reputation as a premier centre for Yoga therapy. With the focus on individual-centric practice design, the hallmark of KYM is one-on-one Yoga therapy interventions, adapting Āsana, Prāṇāyāma, Bhāvana, chanting, Nyāsam and other tools to suit individual needs and capabilities. The Yoga therapy process at KYM, as taught by our teacher, Śrī TKV Desikachar, draws heavily on the Heyam-hetu-hāṇam-upāyam model of the Yogasūtra and also the Pañcamaya model of the Brahmānandavallī as its base, making it a very useful and effective approach to both diagnosis and management of many health conditions. With a rapport being built up through dialogue, feedback and evaluation of course progression and care seeker’s quality of life at periodic intervals, this approach to Yoga therapy offers many insights into how the varied tools of Yoga may be adapted and applied to different individuals. This course presents a case-study based approach to explain the nuances of individualised Yoga therapy, tracking the approach taken by the Yoga therapist with each individual care-seeker and following the feedback received and modifications made to the practice, over time.  Based entirely on actual case studies, with due care taken to ensure confidentiality of all pertinent care seeker records, this course offers valuable insights on the KYM approach to Yoga therapy.

Video recordings will be made available for a limited period to all registered participants, the schedule of which will be shared.

This programme will be anchored by Nrithya Jagannathan, Director, KYM Institute of Yoga Studies.
