Sanātana Saskti, the timeless thought tradition of Bhārata, is a perennial river that has endured through the ages, integrating within its waters, innumerable streams of thought, accepting of divergence while always encompassing truth, auspiciousness and beauty. This Jīva Nadī has as its source the value system of Satyam-Śivam-Sundaram, which in turn springs forth from an understanding of Brahman as the Bhat, the total and also as the Anu, the most minute. Within this universe of Brahman, every experience is Rasānanda only, for Brahman is indeed Rasā, the highest delight. Many masters and many traditions have spoken of only this in myriad ways, but the destination of this river of Jñāna with countless tributaries is but one, an emptying of itself and a merging into the ocean that is Brahman.

Senior faculty member of KYM and Director of the KYM Institute of Yoga Studies, Nrithya Jagannathan will anchor the retreat weaving together lectures on select topics along with Vedic chanting and Dhyānam. Arul Perumal, senior faculty of KYM will be leading the Āsana and Prāṇāyāma practices. The focus will be on the journey of every spiritual seeker, Sādhaka, compared to the journey of the river seeking the ocean. Some of the broad themes that will be discussed include:

  • Cittanadī | The river of thoughts- The many shades of the mind as seen through the lens of the Yogasūtra.
  • Samitpāṇi | The journey of the seeker. Lessons from Viśvāmitra and Satyakāma
  • Pravāha | Teachers and teachings. Insights from the Veda-s, Upaniṣad-s and Pūrāṇā-s.
  • Ṛtaṁbhara Prajña | An unimpeded clarity. The dawning of wisdom – Dharma, Karma, Jñāna, Yajña, Dhyā
  • Rasānubhava | Understanding the underlying allegory of well-known Pūrāṇic
  • Sagama | Simple profundity, living simplicity. A selection of Subhāṣitas and proverbs that distil and preserve the essence of ancient Indian philosophical thought, bridging philosophical thought and praxis.

We are delighted to announce that Swamini Pramananda, a much revered teacher of Vedānta and whose vision has manifested as the creation of Tapasyalayam ( the Aśram where this retreat will be held) has kindly consented to share her insights on the essentials of Vedānta and the relevance of Vedāntic principles. She will also speak of the living wisdom of the Ganga in her interactive sessions.  Nrithya will be joined by Arul Perumal, another senior KYM faculty.
