Prāṇa has a central significance in both theory and praxis throughout the philosophical and religious literature of India, be it in the Veda or Dharmaśāstra or Vedānta or Yoga. The Purāṇa and Āgama corpus is no exception to this. Further, luminaries of living Saṁpradāya-s have recorded their guidance to Sādhaka-s and aspirants on the topics of Prāṇa and Prāṇāyāma well beyond the classical period into the modern era. This online series on Prāṇa as The Life Breath of Sādhanā features a lineup of eminent scholars who will expound on the approaches in textual sources across a variety of Saṁpradāya-s of how Prāṇa is to be understood, invoked and honoured in the process of Sādhanā. This series is part of an ongoing initiative by the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram to foster a fuller understanding of Prāṇa and Prāṇāyāma, and follows a series of guided online practice sessions titled “The Yoga of Prāṇa” by senior KYM teachers and therapists, and the KYM International Conference on Prāṇa and Prāṇāyāma.
